Righteousness Exalteth a Nation
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people”. Pr 14:34

Over the course of the next several days, our eyes will been drawn to the historic events which are unfolding in our nation's capital.
On Sunday afternoon, beneath the staid, reverent gaze of Abraham Lincoln, we witnessed a retinue of show business luminaries from many segments of the performing arts as they paid homage to this country's first black President, Barack Hussein Obama.
Listening to the both the spoken words and the musical tributes given by some of the top names in the entertainment world, multitudes of listeners worldwide were encouraged by the catch-phrase which proclaimed "The Renewal of America", and by statements which asserted that our centuries-long history of racial oppression and bigotry has at long last abated.
There are, of course, some very good things about what is taking place. After all, the amazing fact that a black man can rise to the top position of leadership in light of our tragic history of racial bigotry and prejudice is a testimony to our founding principle that "all men are created equal." The fact that this nation can rise up and show the world that we can have a peaceful, even jubilant transfer of power following free elections is, indeed, something for which every American can be thankful.
Slick, polished and flawlessly rehearsed right down to the hundreds of split-second production cues, this magnificent spectacle, costing in the tens of millions of dollars, and set in the epicenter of our Republic seemed to exude hope and promise amid the chants of "Let Freedom Ring."
But, what looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck is not always a duck. As is often the case, the Enemy skillfully mixes truth with error. The Deceiver of the Nations, appearing as an angel of light, traps and enslaves those who know not the Way unto Eternal Life – and as all of his other empty promises, seduces unsuspecting people by "having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof." II-Timothy 3:5
We watched as for the first time in our history a homosexual clergyman took center stage, and before the entire world vainly invoked what hundreds of millions mistakenly believed to be the blessings of the God of Heaven, followed by a parade of celebrities whose lives and testimonies - which tout "abortion on demand" and the abomination of homosexuality - are in blatant and blasphemous contrast to the God of whom they claim to know.
There is only one way for the "Renewal of America" to take place, and it will never be by a politician's promises, or bleeding-heart folk songs, or media hype - but only by "the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" Titus 3:5
The only true freedom which will ever ring for a lost and dying world is that which comes only from the Author and Creator of true freedom, for "...the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." II-Corinthians 3:17
We will pray for our new President. We will pray for him unceasingly. Proverbs 21:1 says: "The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will."
Having this confidence in our God, our prayer will be to impress upon the President's heart the Divine Wisdom needed to lead this nation through an ominous and critical time; that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit will open his eyes to all that which is morally abhorrent to a Holy God, and that he will see his desperate need for forgiveness and salvation by grace, through faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
